Why are the first 30 seconds of each call not billed unless the call goes beyond 30 seconds?
The first 30 seconds of every PaidLine call serve as a grace period to make sure both parties are properly connected before billing begins. This short buffer allows time to confirm whether it is a good time to talk, test audio quality, verify that the caller reached the right Pro, and ensure a smooth start to the conversation.
If a call ends before the 30-second mark — whether because of a wrong number, a technical issue, or a change of mind — no charges apply. Once the call passes 30 seconds, PaidLine automatically bills based on your set per-minute rate for entire duration of the call (including the first 30 seconds).
This policy helps maintain fairness, reduces accidental charges, and reinforces trust between callers and professionals by ensuring that no one pays for undesired, inconvenient, incomplete, inconsequential or misconnected calls.
Pro Tip: Use the 30-second grace period strategically — it’s your chance to make a strong first impression before billing begins. If the caller catches you at a bad time, just kindly let them know, set expectations (should they call you back or will you call them back) and be mindful and try to end the call within the first 30 seconds to avoid frustrating your client.
