Voicemail is one of the few intentional gaps in PaidLine today. It's coming, but we'd rather ship it well than ship it broken.

What's planned

When voicemail launches, callers will be able to leave a short voice message after a missed call. You'll see the message in Dashboard → Calls, with playback and a quick callback option. Standard caller-ID privacy will apply — callers won't see your real number, and you'll see only their PaidLine identifier.

What protects your privacy today

PaidLine intercepts inbound calls before they reach your carrier's voicemail in 99%+ of cases. The system detects when your phone is unavailable and plays a PaidLine message instead, telling the caller to try later. This means:

  • Your carrier voicemail is rarely reached
  • Even when it is, PaidLine plays its own message first in most setups
  • Your real phone number stays private in the call flow itself

The one privacy hole to plug

The edge case to worry about: your carrier voicemail greeting. On some carriers, the default greeting includes your real phone number ("You've reached 555-123-4567, please leave a message..."). If a call ever does reach your carrier voicemail (the <1% case), that real number gets spoken to the caller.

The fix is one minute of work: open your phone's voicemail settings and either:

  • Record a custom greeting that doesn't include your real number
  • Or disable the default automated greeting entirely

Now even in the rare carrier-voicemail edge case, your privacy holds.
